Cutting the cord: the ultimate streaming guide for your home theater

Cable's gone. Good riddance. But between five streaming apps, three "HDR" formats and a soundbar that swears it is Atmos, cutting the cord can feel like trading one mess for another. Here is the tidy version.

Start with the pipe, not the picture

A 4K stream wants 25 Mbps of honest, steady bandwidth — at the TV, not at the router. Hardwire anything that does not move. If your theater is on Wi-Fi and the kitchen microwave causes dropouts, that is not a streaming problem. That is a network problem, and it is fixable in an afternoon.

Pick services by catalog, not logo

Most households need three: one for film, one for series, one for live sports or news. Rotate the rest monthly. Your Beovision remote does not care — every service lives one press away, and Watt programs the lot.

The one setting that fixes most "why does this look soft" complaints? Turn off motion smoothing. You are welcome.

Let the sound do the heavy lifting

Streaming audio is better than it has ever been — if your system can unfold it. Dolby Atmos through a properly placed Beolab setup is the difference between watching a storm and sitting in one. Bring a favorite scene to the showroom and we will prove it.
